Ceiling Drywall Repair & Skim

The reason most ceiling repairs look like repairs is that someone stopped sanding too early. A proper ceiling patch needs full mud buildup, sanded flush, then a skim coat to bring the whole plane to Level 4 smooth before paint.

Done right, it disappears. Raking light from a window is the real test, and at this one the wall and the patched section read as one continuous surface. Texture-matched where the existing ceiling had texture; left smooth where it didn’t.

A clean ceiling is the kind of repair that only shows up by its absence.
